Grenada Hosts Friday Fish Festivals

395402-268416-thumbnail.jpgThe village of Gouyave, Grenada, is home to a new popular eating and socializing weekly event -- the Friday Fish Festival.  It takes place on St. Francis and St. Dominic streets where locals and visitors can sample a wide variety of fresh fish, fish cakes, kebobs, local fruit juices, cultural performances and music.  The event takes place every Friday from 6 p.m. to 1 a.m.  Gouyave is about a 45-minute drive from the main hotel area in St. George's.  Although the entire island is less than 25 miles around, it may take a little longer to get around ... which isn't uncommon on those beautiful Caribbean "highways"!  Gouyave also is home to the Gouyave Nutmeg Processing Cooperative and the Dougaldston Spice Estate.  Both have interesting tours in which visitors can learn about the processing of nutmeg and other spices.
