Breezes Runaway Bay to Undergo $20 million Expansion

Saturday, June 17, 2006 at 10:25AM

Breezes Runaway Bay will be closed August 15 to December 15, 2006 for a $20 million expansionmbj_brb.gif that will add new suites and amenities at this Super-Inclusive resort, located on Jamaica's north shore.  I vacationed at Breezes Runaway Bay two years ago and had a great time, but this expansion will be a real boost to the resort.  The expansion brings the number of restaurants to five; swimming pools to three; suites with private plunge pools to 40; and guest rooms and suites to 266.

Among the new features:  On the western beach of the 155-acre property, a new, low-rise room block will be built with 30 oceanfront rooms and suites, including six one-bedroom suites and eight verandah suites with private plunge pools.  In addition, in the eastern courtyard, 30 gardenview rooms will be expanded and transformed into 30 verandah suites, also boasting private plunge pools.  SuperClubs' will add two of its signature restaurants, serving Japanese and Jamaican cuisine.  Two freshwater swimming pools will complement Breezes' main pool.  One pool will be located in front of the new oceanfront room block, while the second will be built along the eastern beach, with a swim-up bar and a misting pool.

Other improvements will include two wedding gazebos, two new meeting rooms, and a revamped full-service spa, which will be re-branded as part of a new signature line of Bamboo Spas at SuperClubs Resorts, featuring a three-hour bamboo spa package at $380 per person. The lobby area will receive a makeover with skylights and a new layout, alongside a new piano bar.
